The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu said the Agency will judiciously award contracts for implementation of capital projects based on availability of funds.

 

Mr. Halilu, who was represented by the Coordinating Director, Planning and Business Development, Dr. (Mrs.) Nonyem Onyechi stated this on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, during the Capital Projects Financial Bid Opening held at the Technology Orientation Centre (TOC), NASENI headquarters, Abuja.

 

The EVC/CEO stated that the technical bid opening was done on July 10, 2025, and was handed over to Canonic Associates, the Agency’s consultant to certify those that are qualified for the next stage, which is the financial bid.

 

“The first stage of the bid was done in a transparent manner and handed over to Canonic Associates to ascertain those that will be qualified for the financial bid exercise and that is the reason we are here today”, he stated.

 

The NASENI boss, stated that the projects for which the financial documents were for prequalified firms included Lots Al and A2 and the projects are:

 

Lot A1 (i): NASENI intervention projects in various locations: Strategic Training and Empowerment of Youths and Women in Fisheries and Aquaculture at NASENI Skills Acquisition Centre, Owerri, Imo State.

 

Lot Al(ii): NASENI intervention projects in various locations: Equipping Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centers at Ife Federal Constituency, Osun State and Lot A2 which is the provision of Infrastructure in NASENI Centers: Procurement and installation of 200 Solar Street Lights at the Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Development Institute (AMEDI), Obudu, Cross River State.

 

He urged all the contractors to cooperate for a seamless exercise and wished them good luck in their contract bids.

 

Other management staff, who graced the occasion included the Director, Manufacturing Services, Dr. Olasupo Olayode; Director, Internal Audit, Mr. Ayinla Sulaimon Olarenwaju; Director, Technology Business Development (TBD), Engr. Bernard Ozigi; Acting Director, Admin and Human Resources, Mrs. Yetunde Elizabeth Ajayi; Acting Director, Natural and Physical Science, Mr. Ado Galadima; Acting Director, Finance and Accounts, Mr. Muhammad Alhassan Abdullahi; Deputy Director, Pension and Discipline, Mr. Sani Omolori Kabir; Acting Director, Procurement, Mr. James Ujah Adakole; the Special Adviser to the EVC/CEO on Procurement, Mr. Paul Owiocho Ugbaha and Mrs. Lilian Utaka of the legal department of the Agency.

 

An observer, Mr. Caleb Ure, who works with the Civil Society Groups for Good Governance remarked that the procedure was right. He commended the leadership of NASENI for transparency in the process and urged them to keep up with the good work.
