…As farmers anticipate achieving three or more rounds of harvests yearly

The Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State will come under media spotlight for a positive reason tomorrow, Saturday 1st March 2025, as the historic launching of the “Irrigate Nigeria Project” takes place there by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) (Presidency) under the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund (RHIDF).

 

This groundbreaking Federal Government’s initiative is designed to revolutionize irrigation farming, enhance food security, and empower local communities with sustainable agricultural infrastructure.

 

The initiative tagged “Irrigate Nigeria project” will enhance. mechanized farming and has the potential to transform Nigeria’s agriculture by enabling farmers to achieve three rounds of harvests yearly or more, compared to the traditional single-season harvest. This will address the ongoing food scarcity challenge in the country.

 

The Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, Mr Khalil Suleiman Halilu said the initiative would provide farmers with modern irrigation methods using NASENI technologies and equipment for dry-season farming, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s food security agenda.

 

Tomorrow Saturday’s launch of the Irrigate Nigeria Project comes under the auspices of Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund, a game-changing and transformational initiative that will drive economic growth in agriculture and other critical sectors of the economy.

 

The launch of Irrigate Nigeria is expected to usher in a sustainable agricultural revolution, foster modern agricultural practices through the use of precision technology, solar irrigation system and other methods to be deployed by NASENI in both small- and large-scale farms across the country.
