The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has officially flagged off a comprehensive skills audit across its Development Institutes and company, marking a defining moment. in the Agency’s transformation of its divisions into hubs of innovation, productivity and technological excellence.
The Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu who was represented at the hybrid meeting by the Coordinator, Implementation Management Office (IMO) and Special Assistant to the EVC on Institutional Reforms, Mr. Yusuf Kasheem, underscores NASENI’s commitment to aligning its human capital with Nigeria’s industrialization objectives.
The meeting which held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at the Agency’s headquarters saw all the Managing Directors/Overseeing Officers and Project Managers of the Agency’s Development Institutes, and company participating virtually in the flag-off exercise. The audit aims to realign staff competencies with NASENI’s mandate to design, produce and commercialize technologies for economic self-reliance, in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The coordinator said the exercise was borne out of the broader vision of the EVC/CEO to reposition the Agency’s Development Institutes and companies as true centres of innovation, productivity and excellence that are not only research-driven but also solution-oriented for sustainable impacts.
He said a bottom-up, inclusive approach will ensure every staff member’s voice is heard, fostering innovation, accountability and growth to position NASENI as a model for institutional excellence in Africa.
“At the heart of this reform is a simple but powerful philosophy: people are NASENI’s greatest asset. By investing in the growth and alignment of our people, the EVC is laying a foundation for sustainable institutional transformation,” he said.
The Skills Audit will, therefore, provide data, insights, and clarity needed to design targeted interventions, ensuring that every employee, regardless of cadre or location, has the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and grow to their fullest potential, he added.
He expressed optimism that NASENI institutes would emerge stronger, become more efficient and impactful than ever before. The Institutional Reforms Ad-hoc team will immediately be deployed across the Institutes for the exercise, which is expected to end by the third week of December, 2025.
