KANO STATE POLICE COMMAND ENGAGES IN COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS WITH POLICE OFFICERS WIVES ASSOCIATION
CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc, the Commissioner of Police for Kano State, welcomed Hajiya Aishatu Mohammed Gumel, the Chairperson of the Kano Chapter of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), on a courtesy visit on January 31, 2024. The visit aimed to strengthen ties and acknowledge the significant contributions of POWA in supporting police activities.
During the visit, both the POWA Chairperson and the Command’s Management Team conducted a joint security assessment of the newly constructed POWA office and skills acquisition centers situated at the Bompai Police Barrack.
Hajiya Aishatu Mohammed Gumel expressed gratitude for the continuous support of the Police Command in empowering POWA’s initiatives. She highlighted various impactful programs, including empowerment, training, and assistance to less privileged families of police officers. Over 200 members have benefited from skill acquisition programs, becoming self-sufficient in trades such as soap making, baking, and goat rearing.
In response, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel acknowledged the challenges faced by the Police Command and expressed appreciation for POWA’s unwavering support. He emphasized the crucial role played by POWA members, recognizing their contributions to police officers’ families, especially widows and vulnerable individuals. The Commissioner applauded the efforts of the Command’s management team in supporting POWA’s activities.
DCP Ahmed Ibn Umar, representing the Command’s management team, reiterated the appreciation for the visit and assured POWA of continuous support. The interactive session concluded with the presentation of souvenirs by the Chairperson to CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel as a gesture of appreciation for the Police Command’s commitment to supporting POWA’s initiatives.
The event showcased a collaborative effort between the Police Command and POWA, highlighting the importance of unity in addressing challenges faced by law enforcement and their families.
