Gombe Police Command smashed a syndicate who specialises in printing and disposing of currency suspected to be counterfeit. This follows credible intelligence and the command responded promptly which led to the arrest of 12 suspects between Bajoga and Dukku axis respectively.
1. CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, BEING IN POSSESSION OF CURRENCY SUSPECTED TO BE COUNTERFEIT
SUSPECTS:
1.BUBA MUHAMMADU aged 45YRS male.
2. JUNGUDO MUHAMMADU aged 53yrs male.
3. ADAMU YUSUF MALLUM aged 30yrs
4. ABDULHAMID ABDULLAHI male 60yrs
5. SALIHU ABDULHAMID aged 50yrs, male.
6.ABUBAKAR ABDULLAHI aged 35yrs male.
On the 23/01/2024 at about 1100hrs information was received at Bajoga Divisional Police Headquarters that on the same date at about 1000hrs one Buba Muhammadu 45yrs male, went to a chemist belonging to one Muhammad Ismail male of Sangaru Quarters Bajoga with counterfeit of one thousand naira note.
On receipt of the complaint detectives attached to the Division were detailed to the scene where they arrested the said Buba and recovered the exhibits.
Further investigation led to the arrest of five other suspects mentioned above including Abubakar Muhammad who was arrested at Kano State, other exhibits recovered includes 500 pieces of 100 Dollars bills Counterfeit, and #265000 counterfeit of Nigeria Currency.
2. CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND BEING IN POSSESSION OF COUNTERFEIT FOREIGN CURRENCY.
SUSPECTS:
1. HARUNA ADAMU aged 60yrs male of Taguji village Darazau LGA, Bauchi State.
2. GARBA IBRAHIM aged 25yrs male of Hashidu Dukku LGA, Gombe State.
3. SAMAILA MUSA aged 30yrs male of Gombe Abba, Dukku LGA.
4. SA’ADU MUHAMMED aged 23yrs male of No. 10 Badarawa Qtrs Kaduna State.
5. YUSUF ABDULLAHI aged 30yrs male of Gombe Abba, Dukku LGA.
6. MUHAMMADU UMARU aged 26yrs male of Gombe Abba, Dukku LGA.
On the 24/01/2024 at about 1730hrs the above mentioned suspects were arrested at Malala Village Dukku LGA in possession of sixty three pieces of 100 dollar bill of counterfeit US Dollars.
Further investigation led to the arrest of three other accompolis also mentioned above.
Suspects have confessed to the crime and will be charged to court for prosecution.
The Command urged the peace loving people of the State that they should be more vigilant and report all cases to the appropriate authorities as opposed to taking laws in to their hands.
