The Lagos State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has advised motorists on safely rules as Muslims celebrate Eid-El-Fitr just as it deployed about 3500 regular and special Marshals among others to endure adequate safety during the festive period.

The Command’s advice was contained in a statement signed by the Public Education Officer, Superintendent Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP).

Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Sector Command, celebrates with all Muslim faithful nationwide on the occasion of Eid-El-Fitr Celebration.

As part of efforts to maintain safety on our nation’s highways during the celebration, the Federal Road Safety Corps has commenced the Eid-El-Fitr Special Intervention Operations to address the anticipated traffic surge and propensity towards unsafe tendencies usually attendant to festivities.

The Eid-El-Fitr Special Intervention Operations will run from Monday, 8 April, to Monday, 15 April, 2023.

Accordingly, the Lagos State Sector Command has deployed her full strength of 3,500 personnel (Regular and Special Marshals), 45 patrol vehicles, 3 Ambulance, 11 power bikes and 3 heavy duty tow truck across all formations in the state for effective traffic and safety management on highways in the state. Twenty-two (2) traffic control points along the major corridors have been identified and will be manned adequately to ensure seamless traffic flow.

Patrol operations along all the major corridors across the state have been activated and enhanced to meet the anticipated traffic surge for proactive safety interventions. All Zebra and Ambulance Points, as well as recovery capabilities, have equally been activated.

FRSC Lagos State Sector Commander Corps Commander Babatunde Farinloye wishes to advise the members of the public on utmost safety consciousness during the festivity. Ensure adequate maintenance of vehicles before the trips and shun unsafe behaviour while on the roads.

Speed thrills but kills; drive within the prescribed speed limits. Stay particularly away from dangerous overtaking, Driving Under Influence of Drug and Alcohol, Distracted and fatigue Driving. Share the roads responsibly with others.
