The Dangote Group is partnering Womenovate, a female-focused learning platform, to support and empower women engineers in Nigeria.

 

Speaking during a visit of Womenovate’s representatives to the Dangote Group’s office in Abuja, Senior Advisor to the Group President of the conglomerate, Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman, said women play a key role in the development of the engineering profession around the world.

 

As an Architect herself, the Advisor, Special Projects and Strategic Relations, said the Dangote Group provides opportunities for women in STEAM to enable them play pivotal role in the development of the Nigerian economy.

 

She said the company was partnering Womenovate to encourage women to grow their capacities in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture and Mathematics).

Speaking earlier, Founder/Chief Executive of Womenovate, Motunrayo Opayinka said her group is focused on women in STEAM to close the gender gap.

 

“Womenovate is closing the gaps and eliminating barriers for Nigerian women in STEAM through normalization of both Education and Experience, opening them up to endless opportunities through its several initiatives. One of such initiatives is EWCP- Enriched Women Community Program aimed at equipping 5000+ women and young girls with digital skills that will allow them to thrive in the society, “she said.

 

She said the Dangote Gender Based Accelerator Program has helped in promoting and fostering innovation and diversity within the tech sector and support for female-led start-ups and entrepreneurs contributing to the economic growth and development of not only Nigeria but the West African region.

According her, through the partnership with the Dangote Group, Womenovate has been able to deliver impact on Women in Technology and Engineering (WITE) Project & Scholarship Fund, the Global Learning Exchange Platform (GLEP) and the Global Learning Exchange Platform (GLEP).

 

She added: “Overall, the Dangote Group’s charitable contributions, social impact, and economic activities have played a significant role in driving economic growth, promoting sustainable development, and improving the livelihoods of Nigerians. We are proud of our partnership with the Group.
