Ahead of the official commissioning of the much-awaited Command and Control
Centre constructed at the Service Headquarters, the Comptroller General of
Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsm, played host to the
Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubumni Tunji-Ojo and his counterpart
from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Hon. Festus Keyamo SAN, CON, this afternoon to inspect the readiness of the project.
In her opening remarks, the CGIS who welcomed the guests, underscored the
key role the project will play in facilitating seamless border governance, the
fight against trans-border crimes which includes smuggling of migrants, and
Traffic in Persons (TIPs). The project will also help to reduce passenger processing time at all ports of entry as well as intelligence and data sharing collaboration
amongst Security Agencies towards National Security. She identified API/PNR
as an important component of the integrated border management strategy her
administration is committed to achieve.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Interior expressed joy at the progress made, saying, the Public Private Partnership (PPP) drive of the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR is yielding results. While thanking the Service and NEWWORKS, the firm handling the project, he stressed further that the NIS has no excuse but to deliver on its mandate.
On his part, the Minister of Aviation commended the Ministry of Interior
and, stated that NIS has demonstrated readiness to operate in tandem with
global best practices in Border Security and Migration Management.
