In a bid to address the pressing security concerns in Katsina State, Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Yahaya S. Abubakar, mni, visited the Emir of Katsina, Alh (Dr) Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, CFR, today, 1/02/2024, at his palace. The AIG expressed the need for collaboration with traditional institutions, emphasizing their pivotal role in community policing due to their close proximity to the community members.

 

AIG Abubakar highlighted the significance of Ward Heads in assisting the police to effectively address security challenges at the community level. He underscored the importance of traditional institutions’ support, emphasizing that without it, security agencies would face challenges in making substantial progress against crime in the state.

 

In response, the Emir of Katsina welcomed AIG Abubakar, affirming his readiness to support efforts to tackle security challenges. The Emir directed District and Ward Heads to work closely with Area Commanders and DPOs to combat security threats effectively. He stressed the importance of timely information-sharing among security stakeholders and urged AIG Abubakar to lead the fight against crime in the state.

 

Expressing concern over the current security challenges in Katsina, the Emir encouraged security agencies not to relent in their efforts, working tirelessly until crime and criminality are significantly reduced.

 

The courtesy visit concluded with special prayers, the signing of the visitors’ register, and group photographs, highlighting a collaborative approach between law enforcement and traditional leadership to enhance security in Katsina State
